These are just a few of the old photos that I was able to find of Shady
Cove's past. If anyone has some old photos of Shady Cove and would
like me to put them on this Web Site, please email
them to me. We just added some at the bottom that were donated by
the Newby's. We hope you enjoy the history as much as we do.

The '64 Flood...struck the Rogue Valley, causing $16 million worth of
damage and stranding nearly 1,000 people. Shady Cove was one of the
hardest hit areas, where debris wiped out the center span of the bridge,
flooded the local mill and inundated the town with several feet of water.
Since then, the Lost Creek Dam was built.

Old Shady Cove Sign

Ginger Roger's bought a house in Shady Cove in 1940. She spent
all the time she could there, with her mother (with whom she was extremely
close). She considered herself an Oregonian, and was registered to
vote and paid taxes there. In 1990 she sold the house, and moved
into another one in Medford. Ginger Roger's first performed at the
Craterian Theater in 1926, 18 months after it opened when she was only 15
years old. While in her 80's, Ginger Rogers appeared again on the
Craterian Theater stage in 1993 to help raise funds for the buildings
renovation. To honor the generous and graceful entertainer, who died
in 1995, the theater includes her name.

son of Tom Tepper. To find out more about Tom Tepper pick up a copy
of the book "Under the Stars" at The
Fishing Hole, and Books N More. The Tepper family still call
Shady Cove home and are a big part of the business community.
Thank you Tim Tepper for sharing this history with us.

The old runway on the left and in the trees you can see the B
& B which was used when Old Ferry Road was not there and you
had to use the ferry to cross the river. The house still exist
to this day!
