Also,
if you go into the children’s department or the meeting room,
you’ll notice a thin metal strip long some of the walls. This
is the art hanging system that we have been working on since before
the new building was built. Most of the funds were donated by
the Jackson County Cultural Coalition (Southern Oregon Arts Council)
the rest came from Friends of the Library fund raisers. Very
soon, we will have children’s art from local schools in the
children’s department as well as professional art in the meeting
room provided by the Upper Rogue Art Association. The Shady Cove
Friends of the Library will host receptions for the opening of both
displays. The dates will be announced soon.
Events
at the Library
The
next lecture in our Community Discussion series will be on Wed.
February 10th from 7:00-8:30 in the meeting
room. Our speakers will be Prakash Chenjeri and Daniel Morris,
both professors from SOU. They will be speaking about “The
American Character: The Power of Individualism and
Volunteerism.”
In
March, we will be celebrating Dr. Seuss’ birthday with Read
Across America. The date will be announced.
Also,
in March, there will be several events in
Medford
as well as Shady Cove in conjunction with the Jackson County Reads
program. This time, readers across the county are reading Three
Cups of Tea by Greg Mortenson. It is an inspiring story
about a man who is building schools across
Pakistan
. The local events will be an opportunity to learn about
Pakistan
and that region of the world. Ask Holly Hertel (our Shady Cove
branch director) for more details.
Upcoming
book sale
The
Shady Cove Friends of the Library are planning a spring book sale.

are always appreciated. Proceeds go to assist the Shady Cove library
and its programs.
The
