The City of Shady Cove has operated a wastewater treatment plant since 1980. Located on the west bank of the Rogue River outside of City Limits, the existing treatment plant consists of a package secondary treatment plant using the activated sludge process. The plant treats the wastewater to water quality standards as required by regulatory statutes. The Public Works Department manages the design, construction, and operation and maintenance of all City-owned public infrastructure. The department is organized into two major divisions: the Wastewater Treatment Operations Division and the Field Operations Division. The department is managed by the Public Works Director with administrative support provided by the City Administrator, Planning Department, and Utility Clerk. The Public Works Director manages the Public Works Department, with support from three full-time maintenance technicians.
